Anglers want Enbridge run-of-river projects stopped

Their proposed tarsands pipeline is not the only project Enbridge has in the works that would due irreparable harm to the rivers of Northern British Columbia.

The Enbridge Corporation through numbered corporate entities is proposing to construct as many as nine run- of-river (ROR) hydro projects on streams in the Terrace - Kitimat area.

Jim Culp of the Steelhead Society of BC puts it all in perspective in this open letter to the Minister of Energy and Mines.

Fortunatley BC run of river hydro project developers won't be able to sell any of their power to California anytime soon.

On January 15th, 2014, the California Energy Commission adopted a final report that excludes private run-of-river hydro projects in BC from the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standards.
