When we launched the Chum in 05 we had two goals, have some fun, and more importantly, never take ourselves seriously. A long the way we've invested a fair amount of time delivering our little slice of the internet and the payoff (lord knows it hasn't been financial), has been making a bunch of friends and critics along the way. Like the site in general, our philosophy when it comes to comments has always been pretty much anything goes, but those days are now over.
After this post we will be turning off the ability to comment on the site until we implement our new master plan. Getting caught in the crossfire of negative comments, especially when it comes to content we post from our friends and colleagues, has reached the point where either the comments die or the Chum dies.
We're not dead yet.

Is this what it has come to? It’s a shame that the comments on Chum are being shuts down this is one of the most entertaining parts about chum. I agree people say some stupid stuff and I have even been one of the people who have had ridiculous comment written about them, but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Welcome to the internet folks where people write whatever opinions they have without any facts to back them up.

You just posted a photo of a unicorn humping a dolphin( pretty damn funny) and for some reason you let people's opinions of your website concern you. You guys have been a great source for news, information and sometimes some sideways shit. Keep on keeping on boys!
Sidenote: dolphin and unicorn would make a good tattoo when you buddy drinks too much tequila!
Good for you guys. Honestly, negative comments were killing this site. I rarely checked in anymore because of them.
