Scale and speed of industrial development in northwest B.C. undermines environmental assessment
Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 12:00AM
Once the barons of the extractive resource industry move on from the places and resources they've already depleted they turn their attention to areas still untoched by large scale industrial development. Northwest British Columbia is ground zero for rampant development that threatens some of the last pristine habitat on the planet.
A juggernaut of industrial development in northwestern BC is overwhelming environmental groups, First Nations, and other citizens trying to keep up with environmental assessments. There was a time when they could concentrate of one or two projects without allowing several others to slip past them unnoticed. Not any more.

Open that area in google earth and tell me how pristine it is. The world's largest sawmill is in Houston.
