October 2013 SOTM Entry: AK Bow

Anyone that's done it knows that 30" ain't easy.  Chris Leeman does and submits for what is shaping up to be a competitive October.

Seems very much like a STEELHEAD to me. Still a nice fish, but I ain't buying that it's a RAINBOW. See those spots.... See that snout....

Fish was caught on Lower Talarik creek at "The Rock" a famous hole known for huge rainbows . Lower T. drains into lake Iliamna which is a massive lake. These big rainbows live in the lake for most of the year pushing into the rivers late in the fall to feed before winter. We call them lake run rainbows. This is why you fish in Bristol bay in sept! The fish was fooled by a flesh fly.
