I was out on the OP recently and saw a gigantic chinook on a redd in less than a foot of water with its huge dorsal protruding like a sail. I sat on the bank and watched. I just moved to the PNW from the Rockies, and that is probably the coolest thing I've seen since I've been exploring the rivers. Thank you salmon.
I might act like a "tough guy" sometimes, But that video really brought tears to my eyes...way to go chum.!!!
Will they attempt to spawn in unsuitable conditions, or just roll over after 60 days? If it doesn't rain and they don't spawn, in 4 years or whatever the cycle is, will no fish show up? Did I smoke too much before I got here?..
Kings will spawn where they can if they have to, but if the site is not conducive to egg development they will die.
There's a sockeye or two in there too eh?
Thanks for playing my Chinook video.
Here's another one I just shot in a mysterious unnamed river.
