The fishing world has suffered a great loss with his passing
Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 12:03AM
Jose Wejebe died yesterday afternoon when the single-engine plane he was piloting crashed in a field near Everglades City.
Marshall Cutchin at MidCurrent, who guided the same waters with Wejebe long before he became a fishing personality, said Wejebe loved fish and fishing as much as anyone he has ever met.

Rest in peace Jose.

DUDE!!!! That was one of the BEST ON TV - I am shocked : (
Jose was a true angler, and had a great life. I'll always remember the tarpon battle wear he chased the tarpon around the pier.
The Spanish Fly was my favorite fishing show. Even though I live in northern Wis. and am not near the salf at all. I loved watching him guide and listening to him talk about where they were fishing and how. He was a awesome man/angler. That is very unfortunate that happened to him.
I idolized this man and patterned my passion for life and fishing after him. There were not many guys out there doing this that i could identify with as much as Jose. He had a great fucking Life! I feel blessed to have known him.
