March SOTM Entry: Corbett Permit
Monday, March 26, 2012 at 12:00AM
Good friend A.C. deflowering his permit card. This is a great fish, but the rod snapping 40 lb'r (not landed) was the one that really got his attention.

Good Lord that is a great fish. SLAB OF THE YEAR.
That permit is a more significant catch than two dozen lunker brown trout.
Awesome fish Alan! I am happy and pissed at the same time.
Did he eat a gurgler?
you couldn't be more wrong brent. someone decided a while back that bonefish and permit were the best flats fish to target. While big cuda's and jacks etc. were not worth your time, then they wrote an article about it and everyone believed it. get off your high horse.
This is the week I'm usually Keys bound, but not hths year, so this is insolt to injury. Well done!
Good fish, but even with the long-arm pose it doesn't look remotely close to 40#.
Thanks guys it was a fight to get him to the boat. He took a weighted orange crustacean type fly, and crushed it. Sorry you missed out, Narwhal, you're going to have to make the trip. There's a 40lb fish waiting to test that new 12wt of yours!
wait. is that fish the rod snapping 40lber or a different one??
Good spot BG, it wasn't 40# it was 25#. The 40# fish broke my rod and wasn't landed.
Don't mean to sound like a dick but I am willing to bet I know how this fish was caught and it's not exactly like stalking a fish in shallow water.. A nice fish but its almost the equivalant to catching one out on an oil rig in the Gulf...
