Another vid with no fish in it... Just some fancy gear and a nice camera. Where are the tight lines and 20+ inch fish that are all over The Pan.

It probably has to do with these anglers not being very good at fishing the river. In fact most videos are made by fresh off the farm newbies who want attention. They have a passion and naivety that leads them to think any accomplished fisherman gives a rats ass about them and their fishing.
Of course accomplished anglers can fully understand that passion. But usually they stay away from videos if possible.
I for the first time saw one of the Trout Bum Diaries the other day and I could not believe how many of those guys didn't understand basic fishing principles. It was like watching a bunch of puffed up young bucks learn how to survive on their own. Seriously, fishing videos almost all suck and are all born from the egos of those who crave the envy of others. It has nothing to do with fishing. Just like how many "musicians" nowadays don't do it for the music, they do it for the attention. So to many fishermen try to get lots of attention. I don't want to make videos of myself that is for sure. The idea makes me feel shameful and self indulgent. A feeling that the youth have no clue about.
In the end, if you haven't fished on a particular river for at least 10 years, all the time, don't make a movie about it. Period.
This is a great video...if you don't get or like it then that is your own fault. This isn't an instructional video, it's not about catching huge trout, it isn't an ego trip, and quite frankly it isn't even about The Frying Pan River. It's simply about why and where we fish.

Ahh.. If you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all. That was taught to me by my grandfather and it showed me that if you listen to old people sometimes you can actually learn to be a better person.
However, BE AWARE. There are a few old people that are bitter, condescending and "self indulgent." It's wise to ignore their posts on the interwebs and recognize these ramblings as weak attempts at self-gratification. No amount of mental Viagra can help sustain the size of their once overinflated egos. In the end, it's their inability to recognize themselves as complete hypocrites that makes me feel so bad for them.

I think you guys are missing the point. I would try to talk to you about how it's art and not every video needs to have a bunch of fat fish in it. However, I'm sure that kind of conversation would be lost, because when it comes down to it, I think it was Thoreau that said...."Haters gonna hate."
I agree and couldn't have said it better than Spinner. That peaked my gay quota for the day. That's my home water and that didn't do it justice in any way shape or form.

Hey Klrinpnw, I hate fishing videos. Get it? My point was real fishermen don't make fishing videos. They don't have time. I would be a hypocrite if I made videos. But I don't. I find them fascinatingly annoying. Just like your breakdown of me. I was commenting on the a boring video made by amateurs. Nothing wrong with saying it like it is. We are all entitled to our own opinions.
