This has to be the worst magazine I have ever glanced over. I am from the Gulf Coast and these idiots from the South Carolina do not represent us at all. I could write a whole magazine about why these guys don't know what they are talking about.

Being a southern I full support his Magazine because I am finally read about waters near me instead of ones in the West.

Hello all,

I am one the North Carolina guys behind the magazine, and I appreciate the criticisms and support. Greenboat you sir have a way with words that most people only dream about. When your magazine comes out I will be the first to congratulate you on articulating exactly what I don't know about...Kudos. We figured we'd eventually get some negative feedback and it's just reassuring to know the day has finally come. Thanks to everyone who took a look at it. Whether you liked it or not we appreciate you at least taking the time to check it out.

Dave,

Thanks for the note. All I am saying is that in using the term 'southern' you are encompassing a ton of people who might not share all of the same opinions and points of view. There are 10 or so states in 'the south' but you have focused on only 2 of them while mentioning a couple others in passing. You are talking about southern fly fishing but leaving out Arkansas's ozarks, Louisiana Redfish, the tarpon fishery of Northwest Florida, not to mention all of the awesome tailwaters west of the Apps-Cumberland, Caney, Wautaga, Clinch, Soho, etc. Maybe rename the magazine Carolina Fly Culture. That would fit better. Also a whole article about Fisheye lenses? Really? There is a ton of good stuff to do in Feb. besides playing with your cameras.

Just sayin

Greenboat and haters alike,

We get you don’t like it! Its a preview issue and there are plans to cover all of the south in future issues. You can’t put all of that in one issue. Just FYI, some of the photos came from some of the East Tenn. tail-waters, so get your facts straight before you start spouting off about stuff you don’t know about. Maybe if you would poke around their site you would see some upcoming articles from other places. Yeah stocked trout suck, and there are more wild trout in the south than people think, but stocked fisheries are part of our culture here. So this is a magazine for the south about the south.

Good job on the magazine!

Greenboat,

I appreciate you taking the time to offer up some, what I hope is, constructive criticism. Seeing as neither myself (a fly fishing guide in Asheville NC) or my art director Steve (a painter...the canvas kind...not the house kind) have ever written, laid out, or published a magazine prior to this one we are still learning and trying to get better with everything we do. We wrote this thing not to pander to every ones opinion and views but more form our perspective for those folks that share it. Unfortunately pleasing everyone is not something we set out to do. As far as the "carolina centric" nature of the preview issue we did include quite a bit of photography from the E. TN tailwaters you mentioned as well as a some TN freestone photography as well. Admittedly the bulk of our content came from close to home, but as we grow and put out our first full issue we hope to cover the south in it's entirety and are right now looking for contributors from areas of the region that due to time , money, family amongst other reason Steve and I can't frequent on a regular basis (not that we aren't trying). As far as the fisheye article goes...sorry it didn't resonate with you, but we liked it, and we were fishing in most of those pics if I recall. Which you are correct, is way better then playing with our cameras. Hope you check out the preview issue in the fall as we keep trying to elevate our game. Oh yeah we are looking for a gulf contributor if you got any ideas?

Are u serious??? This magazine is a disgrace to fly fishing in its entirety. Some of the photography is good but come on. Why would moldy promote such a thing? This magazine should have been called Dope-Head on the Fly.

your complaints have been duly noted. However, with a moniker like EastCoastMafia we hope you'll understand being towards the bottom of the list.

Thanks for checking it out...we appreciate folks in all their forms here at SCOF, even rapper wannabes
