Take Action to Protect the Grand Canyon
![Date Date](/universal/images/transparent.png)
This short video makes a compelling case for the Obama administration’s proposal to protect 1 million acres of public land surrounding Grand Canyon from new uranium mining.
By visiting this website, protectgrandcanyon.org, you can send the administration an email in support of those protections; that email will be considered in the government’s formal environmental analysis. May 4th is the last day the government will be accepting public comments, so please act today!
It only takes a minute.

I'm sorry did you say ONE MILLION ACRES? yeeeahhh,...you know....that's quite alot of land there.
This is my home state and I have heard the sales pitches of these mine companies and they always say "you'll never know we were there and we'll always clean up before we leave". And every time they make a strip mine so big you can see it for 100 miles and they always leave the tailings, one I can think of blocks out a view of the mountains beyond and they leave their chemicals and un-essential equipment. They pay descent money if you dont mind putting your life on the line and will fire you at a moments notice because this is a right to work state. I know i'm rambling but that's what the industry has reduced my state to....and guess what, they never clean up.
