Why does this contest need such scrutiny? Moldy Chum provided multiple links for people to vote for the SOTY. Just because some contestants promoted their fish more than others shouldn't classified them as cheaters. The way this contest is setup (with the absence of rules), simply means the MOST VOTES WIN. I can understand the concern if some geek wrote a computer program to generate them votes but I don't believe that is the case. The people have voted and clearly have chosen a winner!
Plain and Simple, I'm sure if a Maritimer was smart enough to build a computer program to generate votes they would have done it. My guess is Matty and his buddies are suffering from some symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome from the amount of times they click the mouse to vote and re-vote for that Atlantic salmon. Standard, How can voting multiple times be cheating? If that was the case then the 4 finalists all had the opportunity to do it. It is not like the Gerrard Rainbow only had access to vote multiple times and everyone else only had one chance. Every contestant had the same availabilty and options to pursue votes.
Let's face reality and move on. This contest is more of a popularity contest then "my fish is superior" contest. All the 4 finalists have amazing fish but clearly the Atlantic Salmon has more friend support.
So in the end, don't hate the player hate the game . Because the game has no rules and you can't make them up as you go just so you can win.
SOTY voting was different from months past. Every month I have voted in the past it only allowed me to vote 1 time per month, no matter how many times I visited the page I couldn't place a 2nd vote. However during voting for SOTY, every time I stopped by MC (which is Daily) I was allowed to vote multiple times during the voting period. I was even able to vote more than one time in the same day. I thought something was wrong with the voting, then MC said they fixed it, but the same thing occurred after the repair. At least this was my experience, only for test reasons. I truly do like the atlantic, but it is a big fish with a poor quality photography and CAUGHT AT NIGHT! The Gerrard or Steelie win hands down! Hopefully I was the only that experienced this messed up voting, but doubt it highly. Revote and fix the problem. Just my thought about this dilemma, also I know none of the entrants. Everybody knows that you should only be voting one time. If you are stupid enough to think that voting multiple times was “okay” then you must be a Maritimer. There should really be a revote with all 12 contestants because I did notice that the girl with the bull trout had more votes than the Steelhead or the brown. Chum it is time for a re-vote with register voting!
Sure lets have a revote or a re-re-re-re-revote. After 10+ revotes, a steelie might win,,,,,and if it doesn't then lets have another revote! Hard to beleive there are so many cry babies creeping on the internet. Time to get a life boyyysss!

Agreed. I think SOTY has lost its glam. Give the award to the kid who entered a fish a while back, probably the only honest person to visit this site.
