yeah, BFD...a 250lb fish chased down via boat at 60 mph and brought in/released on a fly rod. sign me up! One day I'll do it!^^^^ first comment is a freaking jaded tool. Expanding and growing the sport benefits everyone.

i saw this flick (or most of it?) at ffft. it's unbelievably awful.
i like conway, i think. we have a number of mutual friends. he seems like a fine dude. the problem, as i see it, is that he's been co-opted by (what, for fly fishing, is) big money and pitched to an mma/motocross/wakeboarding audience as the bad-boy of fly fishing.
fly fishing isn't for effete bay area yuppies, dear bros of the inland empire, it's for lovers of high-octane badassness! it's white-framed sunglasses, gothic script tattoos and soul patches! it's raised pickup trucks and board shorts and giving the shaka!
let's drink monster energy and chum for sharks and pretend it means something more than it does! ("it's...the story of what i'm trying to do for them" can we be serious???)
sadly, conway has become a shill. if another fly fishing video called out this heavy-handedly, this basely, this endlessly, how BADASS and INTENSE it was, it would get torn to bits on this blog.

I am beyond tired of these "I am too cool for school guys" and then claiming it is good for the sport????? This crap turns people who love the sport away from it and makes others think they are not cool enough to dare cast a fly(not that shark fishing requires a cast). I have spent time with Flip and he is a modest, storytelling cool guy who makes people want to fish..........not this clown...not that fishery....
It's like whale watching. If you're really worried about them, just leave them alone.
Come on Chum, there better than this.
