Just FYI, that fish is not a lake run fish. Its a resident.
All theses browns making the slab of the month...wonder if they are being pulled off of their redds.......
I'd like to reiterate that Michigan grows trout in its rivers as big as any place on earth. The lake run giants are just a bonus.
I hate the pics this dude takes. Every one of them are smashed into the camera to exaggerate the size of the fish. His website is the same way. At least he's not wearing one of those stupid mesh mits in this one though.
Greg is right above, too. That fish isn't a lake run.
This fish is a resident trout
Nice fish Kelly!
That's a pretty damn good pic for taking it by yourself if you ask me rabbitI. What's wrong using a fish hand rabbit? Maybe you like to drop fish so they die!
I concur, resident. Living in Michigan, I've seen first hand some of those alligators. The lake runs are usually more on the slob-ish size. These resident monsters are streamlined tanks. Hammering one of those during the hex in the middle of the night is a treat.
Fall fishing for big spawning browns threatens good brood stock. How about a voluntary moratorium folks?
Gotta love. fall browns! I love how everyone always assumes you line it off a redd! That is one great resident trout there! Congrats!!!!!!!!!
Adam, I will tell you whats wrong with it. Holding a fish all twisted and smashed into the camera is not only a stupid way to take a pic of a fish, but also shows that the guy tries to exagerate the size of his fish.
Those stupid mitts are made out of mesh and take the slime coating off of the tail of the fish. If you dropped the fish, it would probably be better off. They help idiots that dont know how to hold a fish, not the fish themselves. They also look stupider than hell.
Adam, haha... you are one of the posse of little kids that Kelly tags along with, eh? Figures you would take offense, you are just like him, just a much younger version. Kinda weird that all of Kelly's friends are barely drinking age.
Wow, that guy has big fingers too! He must buy gloves in two sizes because his right hand looks MUCH bigger than his left.
Don't know the angler, the photographer, or the commenters........but I do know that it a damn nice fish.
Sounds like rabbit is a little jealous!! Must be one of those fags who can't catch a real trout! Must never catch fish big enough to need the aid of the fish hand. He is so insecure about his identity he has to use a fake name hahahaha!!! Sounds like you are the man rabbit, congrats!!
All of this coming from someone who hides behind a fake name!
Jeez lots of hate on the pic. I am not looking to check out dudes in fish pics anyway...so i don't see the problem showing off the fish. A nice one at that, props.
Can we all not agree that a great resident brown was caught on a fly and was released to be caught by some other lucky angler? All of you are losing focus on what is important.... The fact that he wasnt holding the fish by the gills and calling the taxidermist for a mount. Sounds like some of you need the company of a lady or a good bottle of booze to calm down.
No red spots=lake run
Why does he have to hold the fish 1 foot away from the camera? Judging from the size of his hands, the fish is most likely in the 4-5lb range.
Trout was caught above the dams in the Au Sable River. We have caught that trout 3 times since 2009. Take pride in handling and releasing these big trout to not do them any harm. Trout was caught from a moving boat using a sink tip fly line (not the way you would ever rip one off of a spawning redd). As for camera angle i took photo myself with camera sitting on my boat. Wanted a picture of the biggest resident Au Sable trout that i have caught. Measured it on boat rail at 30.5". As for the other comments i do find them very amusing - keep them coming! Not using a mesh glove so you can drop them in boat - sounds like someone drop you on your head a few time!
