B.S. On Evasive Species. Does it ocur yes!!! But boats introduce more evasive species to the water then a size 14 boot. We ban boots but not the boats. This whole thing seams to be a Backwards attempt at controling the problem. We ask boaters to spray there boat hulls down. Why can't we educate anglers to dip the boots in a Bleach solution. With all the fancy rudder soles they still are not as safe as felt soles when it comes to walking in water. If Alaska is going to ban boots it needs to throw every boat out of it's water. DUMM DUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bucket of water will do that too.

I like it. Every positive step helps. No single solution will solve ANS transfer.

moose...lets be smart about this...in alaska, most boats stay in alaska. anglers come from all over the world to alaska and bring guess what? their boots, which could have invasive little hitchikers... connect the dots.. and along comes a felt sole ban.. not a bad idea.

No way, your going to ask people to take responsibility for limiting their potential carrying of invasive species, that's crazy. Pass laws, ban felt, ban fisherman - let government fix the problem - they're so damn good at fixing things!

It's complete BS. It's not just Alaska any more. It's every where. Tourist travel the country with there boats as well. A mild Bleach solution will kill the stuff better. What about personal safety when it comes to wading. Are we suppose to throw that out the window because of that crap. The proactive way of handling this is by educating anglers then out right bans. The crap will stick to the hull of a boat it will stick to a rubber boot as well.
