Spill Baby Spill!

Meghan Clyne, who is a conservative journalist and former speechwriter for George W. and Laura Bush, tries to make the argument that Obama hasn't convinced Americans he truly understands the disaster in the Gulf because he's not a fisherman!

Only a true fisherman would make a statement like this.

The reason we're in this mess is because the Obama Administration kept in place the crooked environmental guidelines Ms. Clyne's former boss and his oil industry cronies implemented to favor the industry.

The inside story of how Obama failed to crack down on the corruption of the Bush years – and let the world's most dangerous oil company get away with murder

The WSJ has also been reporting on the lack of Bush era oversight.

The Wall Street Journal reported on May 3 that Bush MMS federal regulators learned in a 2004 study that a vital piece of oil-drilling safety equipment may not function in deep-water seas but did nothing to bolster industry requirements.

Wall Street Journal: In 2003, Bush MMS decided not to require last-resort shut-off device. "The industry argued against" mandating a remote-control shut-off switch that serves as "last-resort protection against underwater spills," and "by 2003, U.S. regulators decided remote-controlled safeguards needed more study.

Are we really going to blame Bush for Obama and BP's lack of action. That is truly moldy.

The whole "it's Bush's fault" bit illicits nothing but yawns nowadays. You're better than that, MC.

The lack of a coordinated, efficient clean up process is a poor reflection on the current administration. Everybody seems to recognize that. Blaming anybody other than BP and Transocean for the spill itself is ignorant and displays a lack of understanding of the drilling industry, permitting and inspection processes.

Excursion, suburban and a hummer in celebration.

Just keep pimping for the fish biz before you all go broke and have to go and get real jobs, if you can find one or if you have any skills to get one.

Hate to tell it to you but this stuff with the environmental regulations has been going on for years. Most of the above comments are just jaded "conservatives" (Whatever the hell that is nowadays) pissed someone is once again reminding them what a failure they made out of this country a solid 8 years.

Reading stuff like these comments makes it hard for me to decide who is more worthless the left or the right wing. The left wing is just full of self righteous idiots, and the right wing is full of fat lazy bubbas and the leavings from the bottom of the gene pool.

All of the above is true. Bush and company deregulated and put us into the position we have today. Deal with it. If Bush and the new conservatives werent such a failure Obama would never have even gotten elected. But hey youre too worried about socialism, a word most of you cannot even define much less spell.

Oh and to the above comments: Youre the exact reason why this crap will happen again. Except this time I hope it happens in your back yard and thins the herd out a bit.

We really should listen to a rag like rolling stone. When they're not reporting on the going ons of lady gaga, eminem or the jonas brothers they're doing hard hitting investigative journalism from some kids college dorm room. I mean who even buy that bullshit anymore?

I want to see more advertisements from fish artists with their cliche fish art

Barry hussain was supposed to fix all that, wasn't he? I guess he's just one big FAILURE, huh.

Irony is when a blog dedicated to killing fish takes the time to criticize oil companies for killing fish.

Tackle Jack: Fuck Off

June 27, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSpeyDog

True irony is when a guy named "Tackle" Jack posts up on a fly fishing board.

You should probably check back in with the guys at the Rapala forum, they are wondering where you are I'm sure.

June 27, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterNam

At least I got a laugh out of the bickering. Tackle Jack, a clever name to stir the pot for sure, well played.

the really retarded ones voted for barry (transparent) hussien.
how much did he get from bp?!?!?

June 27, 2010 | Unregistered Commentertar balls

Obama has been a friend of Big Oil much more than Bush was. The oil companies gave astronomical amounts of money to Obama's campaign and he took it with a smile on his face. This mess is due to the Federal Gov't not inspecting the rigs and parts they way they were supposed to and BP cutting corners to save time and money. You have permanently lost a devout reader with your ridiculous unsupported liberal platitudes.

June 28, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip Lezar

All the political bickering aside - W and his speech writer are damn poor fishermen. They killed both of the fish in the photo - the way he is holding his, and the fact that they are so far from the water (that much air exposure likely killed the fish) means dead fish. Pathetic.

“THIS LOOKS SHOPPED / I CAN TELL FROM SOME OF THE PIXELS AND FROM SEEING QUITE A FEW SHOPS IN MY TIME.”

June 28, 2010 | Unregistered Commentermemey

when will we stop feeling the pain from the bush era? never. worst president and vice president in the history of America. I love how all republicans say "quit blaming bush, its obama's fault" even though Bush is responsible for most, and Dem's keep on acting like Obama cant do wrong.

That's why i quit voting. Had a great day on the river while all you suckers were at the polls last year.

June 28, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterbush fucks ya again.

So you quit voting, but you still have the balls to rip politicians and the Bush administration? You are a f-ing tool.

June 28, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterNam
