Another little-known (maybe) fact: Robert Shaw was hammered a decent amount of the time during production. His famous scene where he talks about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis? Oh ya - drunk as a skunk. Apparently he ad-libbed take after take and Spielberg cobbled the scene together in the editing room.

Definitely there are a lot of things that happened that we don't know. Spielberg did a good job with this movie
