May Slab of the Month Entry: Leopard Shark
Monday, May 24, 2010 at 12:00AM
Graham Owen shows some out-of-the-box thinking with this yellow clouser fooled Malibu Beach Leopard. We can only imagine the post-battle jibber-jabber with the beach bum valley girls after deer-in-the-headlighting this scene.

Wow, that is a really cool fish! I'd still vote for that if it were a foot long! Really cool catch!
contest over...leopard shark rules.
Move on to June.
Thanks for all of the nice comments!!!
I can't put into words how exciting the take, fight and landing was. I caught and released the leopard shark last Thursday and today is the first day my arm isn't sore... what a blast!!! I have more pics on my website.

Awesome, Graham. That is one sweet fish! Competition's over. This is your winner...
simply awesome Graham!
I was sitting next to Graham the night he caught those in Malibu at the Sierra Pacific Fly Fishers Club. They just also had a one fly tourny up in Santa Barbara the week before where they hooked over 40 of these things from the beach on flies. Really a cool freaking fishery down there. Nice work Graham.
BTW, he also ties flies like there is no tomorrow, sells them to movies and tv shows, etc. NOT someone you want to be showing off your tying skills next to...
