Mountain Brown Fish
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 12:00AM
We're only 13 days late on this amazing story.
"In a recent creel survey in the Missoula area, a new hybrid fish species has turned up in alarming numbers in the lower Bitterroot and Rock Creek drainages of Western Montana. Scientists concur that this is without a doubt a cross between the Mountain Whitefish (Prosopium Williamsoni) and the Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) – see attached photos."

Evil lipped trout!
Very nice. Best Fools Day one yet!
would love it if its true. would make all those cheerio lips on the jellystone during the caddis hatch a little more enticing
i wouldnt trust all those young sideways hat wearing hipsters up at big R...
if thats a photoshop, well done!
If its not, not sure what to say. Odd...
its a lenok...
sweet, when is the species specific fly line due out for it, next week?
MMMMM Smoked whitefish!!!!
good call troutfitters... definitely a lenok... great spoof though.
Joking aside, it amazes me how bad fisherman are at fish ID. This is clearly a "soft mouth trout" from the Adriatic region.

Like I said earlier, Balkan trout, Manchurian trout, Lenok, whatever you wanna call it, but they don't occur in North America! April Fool's day is OVER!!!
