This is fucking stupid!!!! If your hooking them in the mouth, your doing something right. Doesn't matter your style of flies or presentation. World is full of haters, too bad most of them simply hate themselves.

Very nice, but when will people learn that you can give your charachters different voices?

Still hate bobber fishermen. I graduated from that school when I was six. Evolve or die!

funny stuff. There is no right or wrong way to fish maybe more effective or ethical ways. Fish whatever way makes you happy and you can't go wrong.

Nymph fishing, bait fishing, it's a matter of semantics, the technique is the same.

To funny!!! I've tried it all in all parts of prime Steelhead waters and have found if you want to catch lots of fish nymphing and dredging the bottom with a lot of weight placed properly above your fly and a slight swing at the of your drift, which ends up being near the steelies face, then they swing a fly across their face, the people that do this call themselves Nymph fisherman, PLEASE! What this is called by anyone with any brains is FLOSSING A FISH, ANYONE WITH ANY EXPERIENCE can do this, and YOU KNOW WHO THESE SO CALLED ANGLERS ARE, AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING just by watching them fish. I have seen a lot of nymphers try this method of madness, with enough weight and unconventional methods dragging the bottom with bowling balls and at the right time, swing or as I like to call it "FLOSS" flies into their mouths. I see it all over, especially where ever public access is allowed, unfortunately. I wish people would understand the method of rotation fishing on prime Steelhead water and not hog a spot all day, even when the guy in the best spot never moves. You all know this guy, the one that gets at the prime run before dark and never moves his feet even if he hooks a fish and it runs down stream through everyone else's runs and he fights the fish until it spits the hook or breaks off because the guy doesn't want to give up his spot so bad that he tries to drag a 15 pound steely upstream 100 yards so he doest loose his spot. However like I said these guys hook a lot of fish but do not land a lot of large fish. Also these guys tend to sit right on top of the runs and stand right on top of the fish most of the time, forcing them to the opposite bank, and then the nymphers will then dredge the far bank with heavily weighted rigs and floss fish. This is not fly fishing, if you really want to catch big steelhead learn how to swing larger streamers in the proper spots of the river, and stop walking on the fish. It would also be nice if people would learn to rotate through the good runs, and that more people would try and teach this method to others would be beneficial to all steelheaders that can swing flies. On a good note if you think you can't catch as many steelhead swinging flies is probably because you haven't tried it, and new things are somewhat intimidating. But I will promise you that if you learn to swing and rotate people will catch more fish and more larger fish, in my humble opinion. HA! I have caught just as many steelhead swinging larger streamers in the correct part of the pool where most nymphers don't fish and consistently catch more larger fish in these spots swinging. So to each is their own but I prefer the swing myself with a large purple Spey egg sucking leach, along with a few articulated flies. Good luck on your future adventure.

Funny watch.... Everything is funny when small panda bears in coveralls say it.

November 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterGeorgeRevel

LoopyFlycaster... say what you want, but I have watched numerous steelies move multiple feet to their left or right just to eat an egg. There has actually been many instances where I've watched them turn around and chase eggs down stream to eat. I'm not hating on swinging streamers because I carry two rods, one for nymphing and one for streamers, but nymphing for steel is a very effective way to fish and should NOT be considered flossing. Pretty sure if people were trying to floss steels because they knew steels wouldnt eat a nymph setup, there would be a lot more SNAGGING going on.

I only skate flies for steelhead, that's the Mans way to catch them. To be able to induce the fish to move from its lie and come to the surface to eat. Then right as the fish is about to break the surface and take the fly. I shoot it with a 12 gauge! Quit preaching why your style is better then somebody else. The culture of fly angling is going to the toliet because all you tools argue over what is the most pure way to catch a fish. Most of the people on here probably started fly fishing like 5 years ago and think they are the shit and wanna blog about how much they know or on the other side are grumpy ass elitist who think they are the ones keeping the true sport alive. Embrace all fly anglers, help them try new techniques, listen, teach the youth, don't be a snob. I weep for where the sport is headed, most people are just in pursuit of a "slab of the month" and a prodeal.
