Guide Stimulus
A group of Rogue River fishing guides say they lost thousands of dollars this summer because of muddy water triggered by Gold Ray Dam's demolition, and they want Jackson County to pay them for it.
About a dozen guides recently filed the required notices saying they intend to sue the county in state court should county officials fail to take a sliver of the $5 million federal stimulus grant used for dam removal and settle with them.
County officials maintain there is no legal foundation in Oregon for suing the county over purely economic damages related to natural-resource issues, with the county liable only for personal injury or property damage.
Jackson County Commissioner C.W. Smith was a bit more blunt.
"Long-term, they will have an economic benefit," Smith said. "Should we ask them in turn for a part of their additional benefits from their new river trips?
"They need to man-up," Smith said. "I'm sick and tired of people looking for deep pockets."

Get over it! I guess if you play the state lottery you want them to pay you whiners forthe money you did not win!
What are the guides names? I want to know who never to hire.
Give me a break. These jackasses will be one of the many beneficiaries of dam removal, and should be celebrating the improvement of the fishery for decades to come. Maybe it's the damage their snobby elitism and sense of entitlement has done to their brand that's costing them business. I can tell you for one I will never hire any guide who would sue the state for improving a fishery. Douchebags!!!!
Maybe they ought to get real jobs for once in their lives instead of giving suckers $400 boat rides.
Chumps who think they're entitled to a handout from their fellow tax payers. Disappointing. Here's the web site of the sue-happy ringleader, Vernon Grieve: http://www.grievesfishing.com/
Drop him a line and let him know how you feel.
