Sub Buggin with Dave Lindsay and Ken Kapsey

Unlike normal deerhair divers that dive below the water, sub bugs add a new dimension to the diver. By adding weight via either the hook or eyes, the sub bug will do many different things.

If these guys think this is some new technique they are idiots. Larry Dahlberg used to use a deer hair diver on a full sinking line, this "subbuggin'" shit is pretty much the same thing...... but reverse.

of course mr el gordo (nice you comment under your real name) there is nothing really new in this style but what we have done is to change the way the flies work in the water in fact creating the fly equivalent of a top water jerk bait for pike by adding weight to the flys in fact if you had bothered reading the website you would have seen that and understood the theory before posting your very creative comment

you also seem to think this is just for fishing with sinking lines well again if you had visited the website you would see that there is many ways of using this fly from surface with floating lines to drifting big Scottish lochs with lead-core lines and fish them of the bottom in deep water you seem to have picked up on one method to base your rant on

Larry's flies as i understand were designed for bass and are a lot smaller than the sub-bug which are designed for big predators in mind some of these sub-bugs are up to 9 inch's long and they work in a completely different way to Larry's fly,

as i said there is nothing new in fly tying and probably somebody may have done this before and i make no claims about it .

i hope this clears it up and hope your not to snowbound this year

tight lines

these guys are just doing something old and adding a twist screw the haters. You know you can tie up a bug in alot of different ways but you can be sure someone else already tried or did it .Larry is an innovator for sure these guys are just doing it right now so give them a breal and thery do nice work ,I happen to have two of lindsays flies and they are very nicely made ,now shut up and get out there and fish for that toothy critter

Mr Norte.

Please put your brain in gear before engaging your mouth. Or should I say fingers.

All fly tyers stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before. Subbuggin is just a very good variation on a theme adapted specificaly for Pike Fly Fishing.

Please read the the web site again and digest what is being said and then come back with your reply.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and they usually stink. My opinion on your "new" idea is exactly that....an opinion. You created a website dedicated to your passion, I commend you on that. For every person that thinks your stuff is great there is going to be a person like me who thinks it is "bollucks". I don't think your shit sucks, I just don't think it is all that innovative. FYI, before I posted my original comment I read your website.....I watched your videos. True, Dahhlberg's diver was a bass creation. What I think you are missing is that he later took the design and created a mega diver, a large deerhair diver he used on big predators. My opinion (there is that word again) , is that that the all white diver was the best. Throw it on a full sinking line and get ready for the fun to start. The long tail on the diver gives an action a lot like the white ribbon gear guys would tie on the old Johnson Weedless Minnow. I love to fish the toothies, obviously so do you (high five). I like to fish the toothies with a fly, obviously so do you (high five). I don't think you flies are that innovative, obviously you do. It is all good man, do what you do. You shouldn't care about my stinky asshole. On a side note, can we all stop writing "tight lines" on emails and blog posts........Christ.
