..lol...well sometimes thats the only time ppl can catch fish!..lol.. I would not fish for them poor lil fellers stuck at the end of the body of water! So low you should not be fishing!
Those chums may actually be fresh in the river even with that color. They hang around estuaries for a decent period of time and darken up fast. Chrome chums are in fact quite rare to bank anglers even in the salt. They turn that fast. These fish actually still have some shine despite the color change. Shine is good on a chum.
On top that, take note green horns, the behavior of those chums you see, frolicking and rolling. That isn't a spawning fish behavior. That is the behavior of salmon when they are feeling very comfy and ready to bite. Usually they are relatively fresh in if you see them jumping like that. I have seen that type of frolicking with all the species of salmon except sockeye and when I do I know the fishing is going to be easy.
On top of even thathat, chums are one off the best biting salmon when in estuaries and rivers. It is more of a pre-spawn condtition than a spawning condition when they bite like that. I would smoke one of those guys and make some jerky in a heart beat and not think anything of it.
Pretty booty, but not spawners, and not that far from the chuck. About as booty as I'd bother to target. Certainly not eating material. If you're on the WCVI and you need to resort to eating those you're not stable mentally!
