Protection for bull trout habitat expanded in West

The Obama administration on Tuesday greatly expanded protections for waterways critical to the restoration of threatened bull trout, making it tougher for agencies to approve logging, mining and livestock grazing across a large swath of federal land in the West.

The final rule issued by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service represented a major expansion of the streams, lakes and reservoirs protected as critical habitat for the fish, primarily on federal lands in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Nevada, and a reversal of Bush administration policy on endangered species.

Those bull trout sure are expensive, but are truly an amazing species, and fully worth protecting.

no. but he is an idiot. all republicans sure had a lot to say once Obama won the presidency. its eerily quiet once he helps out fishermen though. just interesting. check out past convos early in the presidency.

Obama could give two shits about bull trout. He signed this because it was a slap in the face to the logging and mining industry throughout the west. And it makes him look good in the eyes of the groups such as the sierra club, and other tree huggin groups. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we protect wildlife, but don't be so damn nieve as to think that he has any concern other than puffing himself up. And as for the Bush supporters? Bush was not perfect, and he made mistakes, but compared to Obama, he looks more like the Dali Lama everyday. Obama is sinking faster than the Titanic, as promised.

obama also designated over 80 miles of river as wild and senic in his first month. does that have a double meaning? he's still better than any republican. they just want to take away our water rights.

Oh your one of those Republican, Democratic type guys that repeat only what you hear and know nothing for yourself. Here's a hint, learn the facts, then speak. To think for one second just because it says dem or republican in front of their names means anything is so shallow minded it unreal. It's time for all Americans to open their eyes and see politicians for who they really are, regardless of title.

PS, I pray your kidding about the Obama rules comment. Anyone with at least one good eye could see that he is easily the worst President ever. If you think otherwise, move to Russia and enjoy the Communist lifestyle you so desperately seek. As for me, I CHOOSE FREEDOM.

randy, that is the biggest bunch of propaganda b.s. i have ever heard. what the hell does communism and freedom have to do with anything? his presidency isn't over so a little premature to call him the worst ever. sounds like you had your mind up before he even took office though. go on with your blind hatred. I'm going hunting
