Water looks smaller than Deckers or the Canyon. My thought is this fish was pulled out of one of the private ranch stretches (Boxwood Gulch or Long Meadow) on the North Fork of the South Platte.

If it was any of the N Fork Ranch properties, then it don't count. Private water fish don't count, maybe there should be a rule - IF you caught your SLAB on private waters you are disqualified.

Still looks like lower canyon or Deckers/Trumbull - lots of 24"+ fish down there this time of year.

It is public water, about 2 miles past Trumble on 67, the flows have been low as of late, only 210 cfs. Right across the dirt turn off to Sedalia

In that case...that's a true slab you pulled out Kyle, very nice indeed.

it appears to be dead, and quite a ways from the water.

HA ! I knew it was that area ! Can ya tell we fish ther too much ? Flows in the canyon have been at 275 for weeks. Thankfully West Creek had finally settled in and cleared, Deckers/Trumbull has been great lately.

Nice fish Kyle ! I'm guessing 23" and 3.5-4lbs?

I assure you that the fish is Alive and well, well about as well as it can be, It seems to suffer from Whirling disease. nothing I can do about it and obviously nothing I did. you can see anothe rphoto of it on www.fatguyflyfishing.com to see its real size, because I know the angle I made it looks big ut truth be told that angle makes it look a bit smaller. the other photo is in another angle slightly and a bit out of focus. so thats why I used This photo. and I assure you its much more that 4 pound... much more. take also into concideration that my shoulders are 24" across. yes I am a big fat guy! and I caught the sucker on my 4 weight. And yet once again the fish is still alive he can not leave his pool due to the face his back is all jacked up fro whirling disease
