Research addressing the potential impacts of catch-and-release on bonefish showed that air exposure is the most important factor that influences whether that silver ghost or gray slab gets smoked by a predator once you let it go. Add this to the fact that bigger fish contribute more to the future of the population, the potential negative impact of taking that fish out of the water is high (especially after it ran a marathon at the end of the line). Anglers, guides, media - get with the times and keep that bonefish in the water.
