California's Lost Salmon
Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 12:00AM Because of a sharp decline in their numbers, the entire salmon fishing season in the ocean off California and Oregon was canceled in both 2008 and 2009. At no other time in history has this salmon fishery been closed. The species in the most danger is the California coho salmon. Quest looks at efforts to protect the coho in Northern California and explores the important role salmon play in the native ecosystem.

That story is sad and up lifting at the same time. Kudos to the folks trying to save the fishery.
I like seeing such a greas roots entity getting the job done on there end in-spite of the burden they carry. Its a great message, and I'm glad they closed the season. I feel though they will need to close it like Maine closed there Atlantic Salmon fishing.
