Fish with 1% for the Planet co-founder Craig Mathews

From our friends at One Percent for the Planet.

That’s right, our newest auction offers a day of catch and release fly-fishing with famed angler, renowned guide, author, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies and 1% for the Planet co-founder Craig Mathews.

Craig will take the highest bidder and friend out on Montana rivers for a day this summer or fall. Complete with special fishing holes, spectacular views, and Craig tying a fly one-handed and blindfolded (ok, maybe not blindfolded), he’ll be sure to provide you with any required gear and end the day with a wonderful dinner enjoyed in good company.

An experience truly not to be missed, click HERE to make your bid!

This auction closes April 30th at 8 pm EST.

One Percent celebrated signing up their 1000th member last month.

6 Franklin's would go a long way towards donations for local fish-helpers and multiple jaunts this season right here at home!
Sorry Craig, but I'm sure there's some high roller out there happy to slap down the cash-ola..
Ain't gonna b me....

Who the hell is Craig Matthews and why would anybody want to pay money to fish with him. He looks like just another guy in the fish biz.

I'd rather pay to fish with a hot chick who didn't give a rats ass about fishing

..... But doesn't spending money to spend some time with someone doing something pleasurable called a whore???

And make him earn every penny of it. I'll want to get up at 3:00 am, have him provide a MASSIVE breakfast, lunch and dinner, be on the stream at 5:00 am and not leave until well after dark. And I'll want beer, whiskey and weed to be supplied by him.

How sickening to see what fly fishing has become. I never knew that there even was a "fly fisherman of the year"

Hi all,

This is Kate from 1% for the Planet.

Please let me clarify. This auction is a fundraiser for our non-profit organization, 1% for the Planet, that Craig co-founded in 2002 with Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia. Craig is generously offering to guide a day of fly-fishing on one of his favorite Montana rivers. This is to be a fantastic opportunity to learn from a celebrated philanthropist and talented angler noted as "Angler of the Year" by Fly Rod and Reel Magazine in 2005. All monies raised from this auction go to 1% for the Planet (not Craig) helping our mission to creating a healthy planet by inspiring businesses to give back to the planet. We've been successful in inspiring over 1,100 businesses to give back over 42 million dollars thus far. These are big numbers but there is a lot more to be done.

We thank Craig, MoldyChum and you for the support. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out anytime. We are always happy to help!

All our best,
Kate and the 1% for the Planet team

Seirously, Craig is an awesome guy, spent tons of time with him on the working on tying material. their shop is probably one of the best around... I would love to fish with him, even better i would love to talk to him about fish and flies, while on the river.. He is one of the few people who i respect in the fly fishing comunity

I think that people took this the wrong way at first. I am glad MoldyChum and the Craig character are doing things for charity. That being said, I do feel the sport of Fly Fishing is taking an elitist, high $$$ road and I hope there are enough of us regular guys to keep it down.

Tight Lines!

If you don't know Craig Matthew, you can read a great article about his fishing diary in western Montana. Re-published in Fish and Fly Magazine last month. I never met him but his articles are awesome and make me start to think maybe I should start to use dry flies.
