Jesus. What is it with the influx of big phucking brown trout these days? This was the 4th Lake Michigan trib fish of its kind that fell prey to James Wallach's strategically tied fly. James, if the fly is nameless, we have one we'll throw in the hat - the side of beef.

Errr....you've got some brown trout baby-batter on your knuckles. Yarn egg or pegged bead?
Beautiful fish. Hope it makes it. I disagree with fish porn. Look how far this fish is from the water. If you insist on photos at least do it in the river. It's like someone holding your head under water. Like that would you?
Neiither an Egg or Pegged Bead - caught them on a custom fly called the Pearl Wanna-B, basically a Super Bugger on steroids :)
Chile66 - i'm in the water, the fish not 6ft from it. Fish was released unharmed a moment later, and was spotted later in the day doing just dandy !
Give me a break Chile...I suppose driving a piece of steel through it's face and battling it into submission is any better? Do you fish hookless flies? C'mon, give me a break.
Not a Michigan tributary...but maybe a Wisconsin fish...perhaps the Brule? Either way...heck of a fish! Well done!
2tancaddis - you are correct, its a South East Wisconsin fish, but not out of the Brule , Milwaukee, or Root.
I suppose the Admin of this site forgot to add LAKE in front of Michigan.
is that jiz
JackStraw - your comment is perfect! We're trying to catch fish, after all, so there's an obvious conflict of interest between fisherman and fish. Reminds me of a couple of years ago when people made a big fuss after some research came out showing that trout feel pain in their mouths. Duh!? What animal wouldn't feel pain when a hook goes through its lip and gets yanked on? We all knew that.
The point is, all of us who fish put our interests ahead of fish interests. Of course some common sense is needed to increase the chances that a released fish will survive, but if fish survival is your top priority, don't catch fish!
