GoPro HERO4 Revealed

PetaPixel has the first full scoop on the soon to be released GoPro HERO4. The two big features that are appearing are 4K video recording at 30FPS and a built-in touch display.

The HERO4 Black is a powerhouse action camera that doubles the performance of the previous GoPro (yet again). Touted as “the most advanced GoPro ever,” it has improved image quality and a 2x more powerful processor.

The HERO4 Silver doesn’t offer 4K video recording, but it’s the first GoPro to offer a convenient built-in touch display. Users will be able to control the camera, frame shots, and review content simply by tapping and swiping the screen.

The official announcement date for the GoPro HERO4 cameras will most likely be October 8th, 2014.

Ricoh WG-M1 Waterproof Action Camera

The soon to be released Richo WG-M1 certainly changes the game when it comes to the look of waterproof action cams.

The new camera is waterproof to 32.8 feet (10 meters) without the need for an external housing; it's dust proof, cold proof to 14°F (-10°C), and protected against drops from heights of 6.6 feet (2 meters). Its f/2.8 lens captures images with a 160° field of view—about the same as a 17mm lens on a full-frame camera—but it does narrow to 135° when recording video to allow for electronic shake reduction.

The video is recorded in up to 1080p30 quality with H.264 compression; 60fps is an option at 720p, and it can be set as high as 120fps when shooting standard definition. Still images are captured at 14 megapixels. There's an integrated stereo mic, integrated Wi-Fi, and there's a 1.5-inch LCD built into the body.

The new camera will be available October 10th and will be priced at $299.
