Entries in deepwater horizon oil spill (22)
Sarah Palin keeps sending us cutesy Evites to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Even we are disturbed
The lack of anything humorous about the Gulf oil spill makes BP's Global PR fake Twitter feed in billboard format perversely amusing.
As it makes live feed available, BP admits oil flow worse than claimed
BP has posted a live video feed of their oil spill from the ocean floor. The site is experiencing heavy traffic so it takes some time for the feed to load.
CBS was the first news organization to get its hands on the live feed and showed it to Purdue Professor of Mechanical Engineering Steven Werely. He estimates that nearly 100,000 barrels -- 4 million gallons or an Exxon Valdez every three days -- is still spewing from the leak.

EPA demands less-toxic dispersant
If it was not bad enough that new estimates say there are millions of gallons of crude spewing into the gulf every day, it appears the chemical dispersants BP has been using might be a tad toxic. Now I don't have a degree in chemistry but seems to me that anything that can break up crude would have to be similar in make up to bug and tar remover.
The move is significant, because it suggests federal officials are now concerned that the unprecedented use of chemical dispersants could pose a significant threat to the Gulf of Mexico's marine life. BP has been using two forms of dispersants, Corexit 9500A and Corexit 9527A, and so far has applied 600,000 gallons on the surface and 55,000 underwater.

Gulf Oil Slick Looks 'Very Scary' From Space, Cosmonaut Says
"Just 30 minutes ago we passed over the Mexican Gulf and we took a lot of pictures of this oil spot," space station commander Oleg Kotov, a Russian cosmonaut, told reporters on Earth via a video link.
"It looks very scary," Kotov said. "It's not good. I really feel ... not good about that.

Giant Plumes of Oil Forming Under the Gulf
The gift that just keeps on giving.
Scientists are finding enormous oil plumes in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, including one as large as 10 miles long, 3 miles wide and 300 feet thick in spots. The discovery is fresh evidence that the leak from the broken undersea well could be substantially worse than estimates that the government and BP have given.
