Feds recommend removing dams from Klamath River

The federal government on Thursday recommended that all four aging hydroelectric dams be removed from the Klamath River in southern Oregon and Northern California to help struggling wild salmon runs, and nearly $1 billion should be spent on environmental restoration.

DamNation Launches New Website

DamNation, a feature documentary produced by Patagonia and Stoecker Ecological in conjunction with Felt Soul Media, will be released in spring 2013.

Read an interview with producers Yvon Chouinard and Matt Stoecker on the new site.

Chouinard hopes DamNation will open people’s eyes.

“I just hope it gets around to a lot of people and changes their way of thinking about dams,” he said. “I’d like to see a few more dams come down in my lifetime.”

Bruce Babbitt, who served as governor of Arizona from 1978 to 1987 and as Secretary of the Interior under Bill Clinton, recently wrote an environmental essay for Patagonia's latest catalog.
