Fishy Color: California State Supreme Court Rules on Farm-Raised Salmon

Salmofan2a

The color of farmed salmon would be a dusty grey were it not for the unnatural addition of the petrochemical-derived coloring agents canthaxanthin and astaxanthin.

The California Supreme Court just ruled that
consumer groups may continue their lawsuits against big supermarkets
like Albertson’s, Safeway, Trader Joe’s, Costco, Whole Foods and
others—based on their claims that farm-raised salmon sold in their
stores must be labeled “artificially colored.”

Reality Bites

Ratbone is back from a seven day drift around the Caribbean.  While we were only dealt 8 combined hours of fishing time, there's plenty to talk about.  Until then, this picture sums it up.

Sockeye_funnel_lg

The latest update from Felt Soul Media.

Red Gold, our first feature length documentary film
will premiere at the Telluride
Mountainfilm
festival over Memorial Day weekend in May.We've
been working on it for over a year now and we're both proud parents of a film
that we hope will provide better awareness of the Pebble Mine/Bristol Bay
subject. Our inspiration to make films was born at Mountainfilm and we promise
it'll be worth the journey if you can make it.

We hope to have Red Gold on DVD in late June, available
at www.feltsoulmedia.com and
plan to have a limited edition Blu-Ray DVD later in the summer.

It is still not too late to support our film
effort. We are wrapping up the credit list in the next week and we
could still use any support you can contribute to the effort. All donations are
tax deductible and if you donate over $500 your name will appear in the credits
of Red Gold, but please hurry as we are almost all wrapped up...

We also have some new american apparel felt soul
t-shirts on our website under "the merch" - please check
them out. If you are curious where the design came from, ben explains on
"the wire."

Best,

Travis & Ben
