I'm still relatively young.  At 37 (with the physique of at least a 35 year old), I've yet to start thinking about adult diapers.  After this pic, sent by local Chum loyalist and Steelhead Sensei - Steelie Mike, I'm going to change my tune.  Sam Sickles, modern day legend from Hood River, was the jedi at the end of the stick.

Those who bless us with frequent readership and have the opportunity to see some of the Steel we highlight should agree that this is a fish that deserves a hurculean amount of RESPECK.  What isn't obvious however, is that this beast came from the a flow near the Columbia Gorge.  Take it from us who live vicariously through many a steelhead bum - this is a feat that doesn't grow on trees.

Chuitna coal mine troubles residents on both side of Cook Inlet

According to Cook Inletkeeper Executive Director Bob Shavelson a proposed mine along 12 miles of the pristine Chuitna River in Alaska is more imminent than the Pebble Project 

The 5,000-acre proposed mine site is just a tip of the project's impact
in the area. More than 55 square miles of wildlife and fish would be
impacted, It would go through 11 miles of salmon spawning streams, a
first for Alaska, Shavelson said. The process for getting at the coal
involves digging 350 feet and pumping water out, as much as 7 million
gallons per a day.
