Pilgrim Studios, the producers of Top Shot, Dirty Jobs and The Ultimate Fighter are seeking America’s best and boldest fishermen to take on Animal Planet’s extreme fishing competition, Top Hooker.
We are looking for COMPETITIVE, OUTGOING and SKILLED anglers, spear fishermen, game fishermen, fly fishermen, trawlers and trappers from all walks of life. It doesn’t matter if your experience is commercial, sport or recreational. As long as you’re skilled, adaptable and confident enough to take on anything we throw at you, you could win A BIG GRAND PRIZE and the title of Animal Planet’s first Top Hooker.

Wonderful. Reality TV comes to fly fishing. I guess this is inevitable. I hope the producers stop for a moment in their casting decisions to portray angling more accurately than those who produce various pharma and gout commercials. Fly fishing is loaded with incredibly independent, talented, and artistic types of all ages. Another related opportunity, and much more important is creating awareness for the decimation of the major pelagic species from commercial fishing. Swordfish, Bluefin Tuna, and Marlin are by some expert opinions down for the final count...and that may come within the next 20 years. A tour of the Tokyo's Bluefin Tuna butchering operation would be a good place to start episode one. Maybe the real fish will outlive the reruns of this production. One can always hope I guess.
