Vote the Environment this Tuesday

In the run up to this Tuesday's election somwhere in the neighborhood of 2 billion dollars will have been spent by the presidential candidates staking out their positions on various issues. Of that 2 billion virtually nothing has been spent by the campaigns spelling out their man's position on environmental issues, a stunning omission given the threats to clean air, water and public lands. Due to campaign laws many organizations hands are tied when it comes to endorsing specific candidates. Others not bound by those same rules attempt to stake out some sort of middle ground when it comes to the environment and politics. They like to argue that both campaigns silence on environmental issues is somehow a statement on both candidates commitment to protecting the environment. Nothing could be further than the truth.
A brief examination of the stated policy positions of the candidates for President, and their respective party platforms, leaves no room for debate. If you care about protecting the environment you'll cast your vote for Barack Obama. You can debate the other various policy positions of each candidate but in the case of clean air, clean water and protecting public lands the choice is clear. Anyone who claims otherwise, or tries to portray it as some sort of non-partisan debate is either afraid to speak the truth or mis-informed.
While there are many other policy issues one must consider before casting his or her vote, when it comes to the environment the choice is clear. We need leaders committed to protecting the places we live, work, and play. Take these values into the voting booth this Tuesday.

Vote Romney. Stop the Hollywood guilt rhetoric.
mitt's the tits!
Sadly, Obama promised too much and couldn't deliver. He had the chance to be a history making president and blew it. The failure of the so called stimilus plan, the disgusting manner in which obamacare was created and passed, solyndra and the cronyism he claimed to despise are just the tip of the iceberg of failures for this president. The time has come for a different approach for our country. I can only hope that those who were seduced by this president will realize their folly and help get our country out of this mess.
Why the fuck do you all think the President even really has any power at all? Your local votes will likely have more influence on your actual life.
I voted Obama again because I think he did what a President can actually do pretty well and the alternative will do worse IMO. I never bought into any of the BS in his election about hope. I knew he was a politician, They all are. Get over it. Romney is a worse alternative but that is only my opinion. Both are only men like you and I. Not God. You want miracles......start praying....
Totally agree with a couple of the other posters, I usually come on here to get away from all the political BS. But hey, if you want to inject your views, expect a response. I tend to want to agree that the environment is a big issue, but in this economy it is peanuts compared to other issues. It reminds me of Brad Pitt fighting for gay rights right now. I mean cmon, WTF. When Obama stepped into office, the American public was sold a vaporware. "Green Energy" is a buzzword that this administration loved to throw around. You dont just start throwing money around Willy Nilly and think its going to fix everything. People have been working on some of this technology since the 50's(Solar, Wind, Hydroelectric). There is a reason it hasn't taken off yet. The technology still isnt there and its not cost effective. It is going to take 5-10 years to amortize the cost of an electric car. When the up front cost is high, who the hell wants to buy one. Not only that, changing around the infrastructure for fueling stations will be phenomenal and take years to do. Everytime I hear Green energy, I wanna puke. All you sheep keep believing the bill of goods your were sold four years ago. Im Not. Vote Romney.
Hey Sheep,
You just lost one more loyal fan by censoring my opinion while injecting your own. Last time I frequent this website. Real stupid move on your part to post your opinion while censoring everyone else. Fucking Liberals...
I quote Dan... "lot's[sic] of ignorance above..."
The irony did not go unnoticed. Thanks for the laugh.

Vote for Obama because he's pro-environment???!!!
Right. Vote for Obama because he did such a bang up job protecting the Gulf of Mexico from BP.
Where are you Chum boys at??? Usually you guys are right there defending your boy Obama.
Hey you right wing dummies you make me laugh when you call names like "socialism"
You don't even know the meaning!
Go read books...
The irony of you criticizing "Dan's" spelling also did not go unnoticed. The poster was Dax.
These comments are the silliest shit. A lot of folks are just getting swept up in this insane tea party vortex that makes people say things that betray common sense. What I don't get is the same people think Bush was an 'OK' president. Objectivity is completely off the table with this crowd.
To the people who hate Obama: calm the f$%k down and turn off Fox News and talk radio. You are being used and that should piss you off more than anything Obama has ever done or been accused of.
Anybody know how much energy it takes to run your computer long enough to read your regular fly fishing websites and blogs ?
Oh, and Fox News can use me all they want, if they keep Megyn Kelly on air.!!!
DAYUMNNN !!!
I don't care : I'm French :-)
You gentlemen seem to be almost as out of touch with your readers (or ex-readers) as you are about the current dire economic situation our country is in. I'm sure the Obama stickers on your gas guzzling "man rigs" make you feel better about yourselves, but the reality is that we have a dependency on fossil fuels that is not going to change for the immediate future. And furthermore, Obama has done very little to help environmental causes except invest taxpayer money in now bankrupt "green energy" companies. He has, however, done everything in his power to damage our economic environment. As a fellow sportsman, I am all for cleaner water and air. Don't get me wrong. But future environmental initiatives will take a distant and perhaps permanent backseat if our debt continues to mount. If you don't believe me, take a look at Greece. I'm guessing your average Greek isn't at all worried about water quality at the moment...
Y'all are awesome at what you do: authoring the best fly fishing blog on the web that serves as an escape for so many of us readers. So do us all a favor and leave the political punditry out of it. God knows there are plenty of places we could turn to for that.
