“Bull trout, an Idaho native, are threatened with extinction. The US Fish and Wildlife Service released a revised critical habitat rule for bull trout that would protect thousands of miles of rivers and lakes in five states of the Pacific Northwest. The Sierra Club, along with our conservation partners, supports the FWS proposal because it will help protect our healthy rivers and forest habitat, clean drinking water and wild trout. The bull trout is well known as an indicator species of the larger negative effects from climate change on fish habitats and what is good for bull trout is good for other species like cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, salmon, steelhead, birds, and wildlife.
Boise is the ONLY scheduled public hearing. Activists from all over the country are looking to the people of Idaho to come out and support this historic protection of fisheries of the northwest. Please make it a priority and come!"
