development — parcels that include the riverbeds of the Yellowstone and

The Green River Formation in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado has the most
oil shale development potential in the United States. The richest
concentration of oil shale in Colorado lies in the Piceance Basin,

Meanwhile on the Pinedale Mesa another 3700 wells are being planned for the same area where 700 wells are being blamed for unhealthy ozone levels, declining wildlife populations and contaminated water supplies.
