In 2006, a  small but dedicated group of
fly tiers in the Fayetteville, NC area planned a fund raising event to
support the efforts of the March of Dimes in working to prevent preterm
birth.

The inaugural event was an immediate success, raising over $3500 for
the March of Dimes, and donating approximately 350 flies to Casting for
Recovery. We have now completed three Tie-a-thons.  Together these
Tie-a-thons and related events have raised over $15,000 for the March of Dimes, and more than 800 flies have been donated!  In addition, these events have been a lot of fun
and have allowed us to introduce numerous people to the joys of fly
tying.
